SAN ANDREAS WATER TREATMENT
PLANT EXPANSIONS

MILLBRAE, CA

PROJECT DESCRIPTION:
Expansion #1
The SAWTP is located in close proximity to the San Andreas Fault. FBA was responsible for the design, contract drawings and specifications for modifications to the baffle walls in the flocculation and sedimentation basins, new bypass channels and new diffuser walls and foundations for a new chemical tank farm.

Expansion #2
FBA was responsible for the design and analysis of an eight-million- gallon prestressed reservoir (tank). The tank which is founded on 3.5-foot diameter drilled piers is partially buried, and is situated on undisturbed soil at one end and engineered fill up to 45-feet deep at the other. Due to the close proximity of the San Andreas Fault, a 0.70 lateral acceleration and 0.23 vertical acceleration were used in the hydrodynamic (seismic) analysis of the tank and contents. Contract drawings and specifications were prepared.
